Cleaning
You can clean the Panasonic ES8249S electric shaver with either the Vortex HydraClean system or you can clean it manually. The HydraClean system automatically cleans, dries, renews, and charges the electric shaver. It uses self-cleaning recharger detergent for Panasonic shavers only. These are basically detergent cartridges that plug into the cleaning system. There are several different courses you could follow with the cleaning system. They are: Charge, Clean/Dry/Charge, Clean/Dry, Dry/Charge, or Dry. Depending upon which course you go with it can take an hour or two to complete.
You also have the option to manually clean your shaver. To clean it manually all you need to do is apply a bit of hand soap and detergent to the foil, then press and hold the on/off button to activate the Sonic Vibrating cleaning mode. It will automatically shut off after about 20 seconds. Then you would take off the other foil, press and hold the on/off button to activate the turbo cleaning mode. Just hold it under running water to clean it. Then all you need to do is let it dry.
Noise Level
This particular electric shaver is rather quiet compared to other shavers. It is definitely a lot easier on the ears.

Pros
The Panasonic ES8249S Arc 4 Electric Shaver with Vortex Cleaning System provides a really quick shave in comparison to other electric shavers. You will find that it provides a close shave and really gets those tough areas such as the neck. It gets really close without irritating your skin.
The battery on this shaver is really good too; it will last for quite a while without needing to be recharged. Also if you don’t like to manually clean your electric shavers the HydraClean System is nice to have, and it recharges the shaver too.
Cons
Some people will not like the Vortex HydraClean System. It takes a long time to clean, dry, and recharge the shaver with the system. The cleaning system is also a bit noisy. However there is the option of manually cleaning the shaver, and also recharging the electric shaver by plugging it in with the power cord. Also for the cleaning system you will need to continually purchase more detergent cartridges. Other than that, people seem to really like this one.
